Vitamin K3 MNB

Menadione nicotinamide bisulphite (IUPAC name: 1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-2-methyl-1,4-dioxo-2-naphthalenesulfonic acid compound with 3-pyridinecarboxamide; synonyms: 2-methoxysulfonyltetralin-1,4-dione with pyridine 3-carboxamide, MNB, vitamin K3) is identified by the CAS number 73581-79-0 and the EINECS number 277-543-7.
The molecular formula of MNB is C11H9O5S.C6H7N2O and its molecular weight is 376.42. It has a boiling point of 193–198 °C, shows a bulk density of 700–800 kg/m3 and is practically insoluble in water (19 g/L at 20 °C).
MNB is a free-flowing powder. The additive contains by specification ≥ 43.9 %  menadione, ≥ 31.2 % nicotinamide, ≤ 1 % water and ≤ 142 ppm Cr. The minimum content of menadione would correspond to 96 % MNB complex.

Additive has to be incorporated in premixture. Directly dosage to mixed feed is not recommended.

The most recent compound of Vitamin K3 introduced into the market is the Menadione Nicotinamide Bisulfite (MNB registered under the name KAVIST®), adduct (1:1) of menadione bisulphite with nicotinamide. Niacinamide or Vitamin B3 is an important compound functioning as a component of the coenzyme NAD. Its primary significance is in the prevention and/or cure of black tongue and pellagra. Most animals cannot manufacture this compound in amounts sufficient to prevent nutritional deficiency and it therefore must be supplemented through dietary intake.

For this reason, this compound is preferred in many factories (producers of animal feed), in the same product are the benefits of the two vitamins and is a product with a best biological activity and stability over time in premixes.

Menadione Nicotinamide Bisulfite (MNB registered under the name KAVIST®) is a white to cream free-flowing powder; contains a min. of 43,9 % of menadione is practically insoluble in water and very stable in feeds.

Vitamin K3 MNB Plus. Stabilized and diluted form of Vitamin K3 MNB

The Vitamin K3 MNB Plus (Menadione Nicotinamide Bisulfite Plus), a s equal in the MPB Plus, is finely diluted in a selected carrier studied to enhance the stability of MNB against the aggression from environmental, physical and chemical agents which are responsible for the degradation of vitamin K active substances.

The KAVIST® PLUS is the outcome of studies developed in view of the evident need for sources of Vitamin K with high biological activity and proven stability, to which we wished to add a further vitaminic activity (vitamin PP) since it would certainly contribute to enhancing the required characteristics.

The result is a very high stability as well as a better ratio between the vitamin K3 and its own volume which guarantees a complete dispersion of the active principles in the premix or the feed and the best biological yield as well.

Menadione Nicotinamide Bisulfite Plus (KAVIST® Plus) is a white to brownish free-flowing powder; contains a min. of 23 % of menadione is partially water soluble and very stable in feeds.
